The
Warren Local School District Board of Education is in the planning
process required by the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC)
to plan for the possible construction of new facilities. The
District last addressed this issue in 2003, with a bond issue
that failed by a wide margin. It is expected that the state
share for a facilities project will now top 55%, with the local
community needing to pass a Bond for approximately 40-45% of
the total cost for new construction. This represents a 10%
increase in funding since the original plan was put before
voters nearly six years ago. Over the next few months, the
Board of Education and District Administration will be working
with the community to discuss the possibilities for new buildings
and guide community members through the process of deciding
the grade level make-up, student population, and location of
potential new facilities. However, prior to starting that process,
it is important to determine the challenges associated with
our current facilities in an effort to identify the true need
for new construction.
If
you are interested in reviewing the current challenges associated
with
the district's facilities, please access the "Building Assessments" to
the left. The attached documents outline our current facilities
as of June 2009. Additional information, including a listing
of public meeting times/dates, associated with this project will
be posted to this site as it becomes available.
